Kia ora, welcome to my blog. A place where I share thoughts on photography, art and living creatively.

Rest in Peace

It is our wish in death as we farewell those walking through the veil.

Rest in peace.

Can it be our wish in daily life too. To have a small rest, in peace, with sounds (or silence) that center us, with beauty that blesses us, with a complete absence of responsibility, embracing deep restfor a short time, grounded in our bodily self. Allowing an unhindered flow of thought, feeling. Harnessed. Safe. Resting.

This artwork is a combination of photographs made at the Sisters of Compassion convent and church grounds at Hiruharama/Jerusalem, beside the Whanganui River.

My hope is always that the photographs I make of a place can encapsulate it's energy. The energy of this place feels gentle and grounded, layer upon layer of goodwill, healing and laughter.

Made in honour of Hospice Awareness Week. I will donate 50% of all proceeds from this print to my local hospice, Te Omanga Hospice in Te Awa Kairangi, the Hutt Valley.
